Senior Backend Engineer · Go + Postgres

About the role

We're hiring a senior backend engineer to own a critical slice of our payments platform — the part that reconciles bank statements with our ledger and surfaces discrepancies before anyone notices. Real production traffic, real money, real consequences.

You'll join a 9-person engineering team, all fully remote across EU. Our async culture is real — we publish a weekly written digest, default to PR threads over meetings, and meet synchronously twice a week for 45 minutes.

What you'll work on

• Designing + building the next-gen reconciliation engine in Go. Postgres + Kafka under the hood.
• Owning the on-call rotation for one quarter per year (1 week, ~1× / 5 months).
• Mentoring 2 mid-level engineers on system design and code review.
• Shaping the next 12 months of our backend roadmap with the CTO and product lead.

What we're looking for

• 5+ years building production backends, at least 2 of them in Go.
• Solid Postgres — query plans, indexes, migrations on live systems.
• You've worked async-remote before and prefer it. Camera-on meetings drain you.
• You write clearly. Doc-first design, not whiteboard-first.

Compensation & benefits

• €70k–€90k base, depending on experience. EU contract or B2B at equivalent total comp.
• 32 days PTO. 5 of them are "no questions asked" sick days.
• €2k/yr learning budget. €1k/yr home-office budget.
• Annual team week somewhere in EU. Optional but everyone shows up.
